Lab Quality Consultant

$62.75 - $83.16 per hour

A Brief Overview Plans, coordinates, monitors, and improves clinical care and services. Leads multiple small to medium scale, service or unit specific, performance improvement initiatives. Combines clinical acumen with leadership skills to influence clinical processes, systems, and outcomes. Examines models of care delivery for opportunities to optimize care and reduce waste. Identifies opportunities for unit/service based improvements based on evidence‑based practices, regulatory requirements, and data analysis of high‑risk, high‑volume, or problem‑prone processes. Locations Stanford Health Care What you will do Abide by all Joint Commission requirements including cultural diversity sensitivity, patient care, patients’ rights, ethical treatment, safety, security, emergency management, teamwork, respect, ongoing education, training, communication, safety and quality programs, compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, licensure, and health screenings. Review SHC and Quality, Patient Safety, and Effectiveness Department quality goals to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure current projects meet unit‑based/service‑specific and organizational goals. Perform, coordinate, and facilitate quality improvement, patient safety activities, and clinical effectiveness initiatives for assigned projects to achieve unit/service goals in collaboration with physicians and staff. Design and implement new processes and clinical care based on evidence to continually improve patient care, outcomes, and performance targets. Perform data analysis; create and interpret data displays including clinical, cost, and patient satisfaction data. Work with IT, informatics, finance, enterprise data warehouse, and analytics teams to ensure data integrity and accuracy. Utilize Microsoft programs, Crystal Reports, MIDAS, Business Objects, UHC, and other applications. Evaluate data and make recommendations regarding resource utilization, physician practice patterns, and clinical pathway effectiveness. Design dashboards and innovative data visualizations using business intelligence tools. Provide guidance on SHC data models and systems, and act as a resource for interpreting data generated by the department. Provide content knowledge in interpreting, implementing, and maintaining standards to meet external requirements such as Joint Commission, CMS, Title 22. Advise on the use of quality improvement tools and methodologies such as PDCA, Lean, Six Sigma, and Statistical Process Control. Assess tests of change from Clinical Effectiveness projects and recommend actions to achieve goals. Education Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Experience Qualifications Three (3) years of experience required; preference for healthcare. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Utilize the Clinical Effectiveness framework to focus on outcomes, appropriateness of care, patient centeredness, and value. Coordinate project initiatives, meetings, and clinical program management to achieve unit and service goals. Apply change management tools and techniques to projects. Apply multiple performance improvement methodologies and tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, and FMEA. Use advanced quantitative skills and statistics to evaluate, interpret, summarize results, and make recommendations. Apply project management and change management methodologies and tools. Use structure to drive process changes and align outcomes. Collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment. Demonstrate sound judgment and reasoning. Use decision support systems such as Access or other relational databases. Utilize information technology to drive process changes. Influence effectively to create synergy, prioritize projects, set goals, action plans, and measure impact. Stay abreast of inpatient quality measures with external visibility such as CMS, HealthGrades, US News & World Report, HEDIS, PQRS.
