Position Overview

One of our clients in the automotive manufacturing industry is seeking a Die-Cast Process Technician to support high-pressure aluminum die-casting operations, process optimization, and quality assurance. This role is responsible for maintaining stable production processes, minimizing scrap and equipment downtime, and ensuring compliance with established safety and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with high-pressure aluminum die-casting, process setup, troubleshooting, tooling coordination, and continuous improvement . This individual will also support production team members through technical guidance, training, and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities Process Setup & Production Operations

• Perform planned and unplanned changeovers and setups of high-pressure die-casting cells according to technical specifications and standard operating procedures.

• Monitor, record, and maintain process parameters to ensure consistent production quality and stable operating conditions.

• Safely melt and supply molten aluminum to casting cells as required.

• Troubleshoot process issues and support production teams in resolving operational challenges.

Quality Assurance & Process Control

• Collaborate with Quality teams to ensure components meet automotive quality standards and specifications.

• Apply automotive Core Tools, including SPC, FMEA, MSA, APQP, and PPAP , as applicable to process control and quality improvement.

• Utilize structured problem-solving methods, including 8D and 5-Why analysis , to identify root causes and prevent recurring defects.

• Document process deviations, quality concerns, and corrective actions in shift reports and production logs.

Equipment Maintenance & Downtime Reduction

• Coordinate tooling and equipment repairs with Tool Service and Maintenance teams.

• Perform Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and basic preventive maintenance on die-casting cell equipment.

• Monitor equipment performance, investigate downtime, and implement corrective actions to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) .

• Support initiatives to improve equipment reliability, reduce unplanned downtime, and maintain safe operating conditions.

Continuous Improvement & Technical Leadership

• Lead and support technical improvement projects within the die-casting department.

• Identify opportunities to reduce scrap, improve cycle times, optimize processes, and increase production efficiency.

• Train and support production employees on process parameters, equipment operation, quality requirements, and technical updates.

• Serve as a technical resource for production teams and promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in high-pressure aluminum die-casting within an industrial manufacturing environment.

• Automotive manufacturing experience strongly preferred.

• Experience with die-casting cell setup, changeovers, process monitoring, and troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with automotive quality Core Tools, including SPC, FMEA, MSA, APQP, and PPAP .

• Knowledge of root-cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies, such as 8D and 5-Why .

• Experience with tooling repair coordination, TPM, and basic preventive maintenance.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose and resolve production process issues.

• Ability to maintain accurate process documentation and shift reports.

• Strong work ethic, dependability, adaptability, and leadership skills.

• Willingness and ability to work any shift, including first, second, third, rotating, or continental shifts , and overtime as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical certification or vocational training in manufacturing or process technology.

• Experience with continuous improvement initiatives, scrap reduction, and OEE improvement.

• Previous experience providing technical guidance or training to production employees.
