Manufacturing Engineer II/III About This Role Textron Systems is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer to focus on assembly and testing of products across the product life cycle spectrum. As part of our dedicated ISC team, Manufacturing Process Engineer’s principal responsibilities are to develop repeatable and reproducible assembly, inspection, and test instructions, identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes. Responsibilities will also include other upstream activities such as capital equipment, facility requirements, existing and emerging manufacturing technologies, tool design, cost estimating, and configuration control. This individual will work closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing and Assembly Technicians to complete builds, analyze results and continuous improvement. Job Responsibilities Collaborate with Design Engineering, Assembly Technicians and other Manufacturing Engineers to provide a clear line of communication between design and manufacturing. Perform make/buy analyses for new designs by reviewing drawings, sketches, and schematics. Determine necessary capital equipment, facility requirements, manufacturing technologies, and other manufacturing requirements for emerging programs. Develop manufacturing processes, procedures, tool designs, production layouts, cost estimates, and configuration control methods for efficient manufacturing of new products. Identify emerging manufacturing technologies and perform cost/benefit analysis for implementation. Develop factory floorplans and equipment arrangements with facilities to ensure efficient and productive flow. Develop detailed manufacturing process documents by providing technical know‑how and drive best practices. Develop detailed production plans to support new products. Provide technical support to both internal and external suppliers via in‑person and/or phone support. Maintain a positive attitude while interacting with a diverse and multi‑functional workforce. Knowledge of and demonstrated implementation of lean practices. Identify and implement automation, AI, and other innovative continuous improvement efforts. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree required; preferred degrees are Electrical, RF, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. Minimum experience: 3 years for Level 2 Engineer (pay range $88,200 – $133,000) and 5 years for Level 3 Engineer (pay range $98,600 – $149,400). Experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably electrical/electronic/RF) and in application of materials, manufacturing methods and equipment, especially assembling, troubleshooting, repairing electronic systems, circuits, test equipment, and cables/harnesses. Knowledge of electronics, electrical, RF, mechanical design and lean manufacturing principles. Knowledge of DFX principles (Design for Manufacturing, Inspection, Assembly, and Cost) and GD&T with appropriate tolerances. Knowledge of existing manufacturing technologies and ability to research emerging technologies. Ability to analyze technical drawings, preliminary bills of material, engineering sketches, CAD models, prototypes, specifications, and ad hoc requirements. Ability to detect and analyze potential design issues, and to apply logical or scientific solutions to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to visualize and comprehend critical elements of a manufacturing environment and to understand interactions of various factors that affect engineering designs. Ability to work in a collaborative, diverse team environment and to justify analytical results then effectively communicate recommendations. Strong written and oral communication skills. Basic computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Manufacturing‑specific computer skills: ERP and MRP (e.g., Oracle); PLM (e.g., Matrix); MES (e.g., Solumina). Experience with CAD software (UG NX 10, SolidWorks). U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
