The College of Medicine – Tucson is searching for a Financial Analyst III who will be an integral part of the finance team. As a Financial Analyst III you will support core activities in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis while ensuring compliance with institutional policies and procedures. You will be a primary point of contact to assist departmental/center administrators and staff with the annual all‑funds budget process and quarterly forecasting. You will be responsible for reviewing and validating financial data for accuracy, identifying and assisting in resolving discrepancies, preparing routine and ad‑hoc financial reports, and analyzing performance to support informed operational decision making. The Financial Analyst III works collaboratively within the finance team and with internal stakeholders, applying established principles and analytical tools, and escalating complex or unusual issues as appropriate. Duties & Responsibilities Serve as a key point of contact for the annual All‑Funds budgeting and quarterly forecasting for departments, centers, and administrative units within the College of Medicine‑Tucson, ensuring accuracy and compliance at the college level and guiding staff on budget preparation. Monitor and analyze financial performance of College departments and centers versus budget, targets, and key indicators, identifying variances and providing proactive solutions and recommendations. Conduct comprehensive ad‑hoc financial and/or budget analyses to support college and department decision making, providing in‑depth insights, performance metrics, and strategic recommendations. Partner with college finance leadership to develop and implement financial plans and strategies. Support or lead the development of annual budgets related to the college's allocation model and other areas within Medicine administration, ensuring alignment with goals and priorities. Generate monthly or quarterly budget/financial reports, ensuring accuracy and providing insight into expenditure trends. Prepare, analyze, monitor, and forecast complex financial or operational data for senior administration to drive data‑informed decision making. Develop and oversee financial schedules and reporting protocols for administration, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with financial goals and regulations. Perform reconciliations to ensure expenses and revenue are accurately reported and compliant with financial reporting. Serve as a liaison with main campus units such as the Financial Services Office, providing support on various financial matters and offering solutions. Use advanced Excel skills to prepare and analyze ad‑hoc financial reports as needed. Execute financial transactions, including processing or approving expense and funds transfers, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to policies. Compile data and conduct analysis for institutional and industry benchmark surveys as needed. Participate in other college initiatives and projects as required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft programs. Knowledge of accounting practices, procedures, and generally accepted accounting principles. Excellent organization and time‑management skills. Ability to analyze financial data and identify trends, variances, and opportunities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to multi‑task projects and daily assignments. Self‑starter with strong problem‑solving abilities. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience. Five (5) years of relevant work experience. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. Experience at an academic institution managing state, discretionary, sponsored, and gift funds. Experience working with federal grants and sponsor requirements, including managing cost share. Experience with UAccess (Analytics, Financials, UAccess Employee) and knowledge of UA policies and procedures.
