Job Opportunity: GI Oncologist

The Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Transplantation (HOT) at our organization is on the lookout for a board-certified or board-eligible GI Oncologist to join us at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. This is an exciting time to become part of our growing GI oncology program, which is poised for significant development.

This position offers a unique chance to influence a program backed by a robust multidisciplinary framework, active clinical trial capabilities, and a sincere institutional commitment to establishing itself as a leading center for GI cancer care and research on a national scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional inpatient and outpatient oncology care with a focus on gastrointestinal malignancies.
• Engage in multidisciplinary GI tumor boards and specialized clinics, including telehealth services.
• Initiate and lead clinical trials and/or translational research projects that align with your academic interests.
• Collaborate with researchers at the Masonic Cancer Center to enhance GI cancer therapeutics and translational science.
• Provide mentorship to medical students, residents, Hematology/Oncology fellows, and junior faculty members.
• Contribute to academic scholarship through publications, presentations, and participation in national scientific discussions.
• Take part in institutional and cancer center initiatives aimed at advancing clinical programs and research.

About the Division

Our Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Transplantation comprises over 50 faculty members specializing in malignant hematology, blood and marrow transplantation, classical hematology, and solid tumor oncology. Our faculty are recognized both nationally and internationally for their contributions to cellular therapy, immunotherapy, translational oncology, and clinical trial innovation. We hold active NIH and American Society of Hematology training grants and are deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of oncology researchers.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited ACGME fellowship-training program.
• Board eligible or certified in Medical Oncology and/or Hematology/Oncology.
• Possession or ability to obtain a medical license and DEA registration in Minnesota, meeting the necessary criteria for credentialing and privileges.
• Compliance with Citizenship and Immigration Services requirements to maintain legal status as per VISA regulations.
• Fellowship training or specialized focus in gastrointestinal oncology.
• Experience with clinical trials, including investigator-initiated research.
• Demonstrated academic productivity through publications, presentations, or grant activities.
• Interest in developing a focused clinical or translational research program in GI malignancies.

Working Conditions

This position involves dual employment with our organization and the University of Minnesota. Clinical compensation will be aligned with clinical responsibilities through our organization, while the salary from the University will depend on the academic contributions of the individual hired.
