We provide civil/site design and land surveying, environmental, geotechnical, construction administration & inspection, accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting and installation, and specialized testing services to the construction industry.We are looking for a Certified Welding Inspector who will play a key role in our Construction Quality Assurance division.If you are passionate about staying ahead of industry trends, enjoy problem-solving, and have a creative approach to welding inspection and construction operations, we want to hear from you!This is more than a job posting … it's an invitation to bring your expertise to a company where innovation and passion converge seamlessly.Highlights:Project sites are typically within a 1.5 hour radius of Columbus - most projects are in Franklin county and the surrounding counties.A company truck can be provided or you can use your personal vehicle and receive a competitive reimbursement.The typical schedule is Monday-Friday – day shift primarily (7am-5pm). If bad weather affects the timeline, some Saturdays may be needed to meet our clients project schedules. Night time work may occur occasionally but we strive to give as much advance notice of possible so you can plan accordingly.Responsibilities:Perform these services on building construction sites, bridges and fabrication shops.Steel testing as needed in our Materials Laboratory, including testing of welder performance and procedure qualifications, high strength bolts and anchor rods, load testing of assemblies, etc.Be willing and able to work on construction sites, including elevated platforms, manlifts, scaffolds and swing stages, while performing inspection activities.May be required to perform job duties in the field and office, during non-standard work hours, as necessary.Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills/Abilities:Three years of experience (with an Applied Science or Technical Degree) or five years (no degree) in steel inspection or quality control inspection testingRequired Certification: American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or ability to obtain within 1 yearPreferred Certification(s): ICC certification in the Structural Steel Welding or Bolting, American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level II certification UT, MT, PTDemonstrated ability to read and apply contract drawings, specifications, and building code reviews.Ability to prepare reports summarizing observations and findings associated with the work performed.Must possess the physical strength and agility to get to areas on steel structure work environment to complete required inspection duties.Must have strong written and oral communication skills, be able to work in a team environment as well as independently, demonstrate team-oriented approach to problem-solving, and have strong interpersonal skills for contact with clients, contractors, and fellow Team members (Engineers/Technicians).Possesses the ability to be accurate, dependable, and display strong organizational skills.Possesses good time management skills, ability to manage multiple assignments at any given time, and has ability to work in a team environment.Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.Must possess an acceptable driving record and be willing to travel to and conduct field work at job sites in Ohio.Benefits:CTL Engineering offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including medical, life, and disability insurance, paid time off, an award-winning ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan), and a 401K plan.CTL Engineering provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation and training.
