The reporting location for this position is Pio Pico State Historic Park located at 6003 Pioneer Blvd, Whittier, CA 90606. This position will work u nder the supervision of the Park Maintenance Chief I, with guidance from the Park Maintenance Supervisor.

The Maintenance Aide will answer questions of the public, explain park rules and regulations, operate light vehicles, account for supplies used, perform unskilled maintenance and various housekeeping, groundskeeping and minor maintenance repair, and complete miscellaneous reports. This position will keep facilities clean and perform general unskilled maintenance. The reporting location for this position is Pio Pico State Historic Park but the incumbent may also work at other park units within the Los Angeles Sector as needed.


Typical work activities may involve frequent periods of bending, stooping and lifting. May have extensive exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, rain, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises. May work in remote locations on uneven ground. This position is a uniformed classification and is required to maintain an appearance conforming to Department standards. Successful candidates will be required to purchase and wear a State Park uniform to comply with Department standards.

Work hours are from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Days scheduled depends on availability and operational need. This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1 . This position is designated as not telework eligible. Must be able to work holidays, evenings, and weekends.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Possession of a valid driver's license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
