Commercial Landscape Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Landscape Estimator. This is a hands-on position responsible for estimating commercial landscape construction and maintenance projects from initial site visits and scope meetings through final proposal and project handoff.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial landscape projects.
• Conduct site visits, field measurements, and scope meetings with clients, contractors, vendors, and project teams.
• Review plans, specifications, drawings, bid documents, and project scopes to identify labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor requirements.
• Develop detailed takeoffs and pricing for landscape installation, maintenance, irrigation, hardscape, planting, site improvements, and related work.
• Utilize landscape design knowledge to understand plans and develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Prepare detailed proposals, bids, and estimates in accordance with project specifications and client requirements.
• Manage the estimating process from initial opportunity through bid submission and project award.
• Prepare and coordinate submittals, including product information, material selections, and related documentation.
• Review project changes and prepare accurate change order pricing and documentation.
• Identify scope gaps, potential risks, exclusions, and opportunities during the estimating process.
• Work closely with project management, operations, and field personnel to ensure estimates accurately reflect project requirements and anticipated costs.
• Maintain organized estimating files, bid documentation, pricing information, and vendor/subcontractor quotes.
• Participate in pre-bid and post-bid meetings as needed.
• Assist with project turnover from estimating to operations and provide clarification regarding scope, pricing, and assumptions.
• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, clients, and other industry contacts.

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial landscape estimating experience.
• Landscape design experience or a strong understanding of landscape design principles required.
• Ability to read and interpret landscape plans, construction drawings, specifications, and site plans.
• Experience conducting site visits and scope meetings with clients and project stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of landscape materials, plant materials, hardscape, irrigation, site preparation, and installation practices.
• Experience preparing submittals and change orders.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software; experience with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar takeoff/estimating software is a plus.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project management and field operations.
