POLICE OFFICER BRUSH POLICE DEPT., BRUSH CO This position is for POST Certified only Applicant must have passed the Colorado POST exam and achieved a hirable peace officer status $70,651/yr to start with excellent benefits including pension program through FPPA Community policing is at the center of our philosophies and practices at BPD. Essential Functions: Prepare for each shift. Perform patrol. Communicate and deal with the public. Prepare and turn in end of day reports. Examples of Duties: The following duty statements are not intended and should not be interpreted to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities or skills associated with this position. Other duties and responsibilities are performed as assigned. Patrols within corporate limits to deter illegal activities and to protect and preserve the safety and security of individuals, property, buildings, and neighborhoods. Completes reports in a clear and accurate manner. Responds to dispatch calls and investigates citizen complaints and reported breaches of the peace including crimes in progress, crimes discovered after the fact, disturbances, accidents, etc. Prepares summons necessary to charge individuals with violations of ordinances and statutes. Makes arrests and take suspects into custody including the reading of rights, interrogation, search, booking, and transport of individuals to holding and jailing facilities. Appears in court and other hearings to offer testimony. Inspects and maintains assigned equipment. Maintains awareness of focal crime rates and trends. Attends and participates in assigned training sessions. Application and hiring process will include: completion of complete job application, supplemental questionnaire, physical agility test, written and oral boards, background investigation, drug screen, psychological evaluation, pre-employment physical screening.
