To provide work on a temporary basis to a campus or a department. Temporary employment may be required during peak workloads, when additional assistance is needed for a special project, for seasonal work, or emergency situations.

Qualifications (Dependent upon Temporary Position): Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to communicate effectively (verbally) Proficient keyboarding skills Effective organization, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to follow written instructions Ability to multi-task Ability to operate a multi-line phone system Ability to operate hand and power tools Ability to work independently Current NISD High School Junior/Senior students preferred for certain temporary work

Equipment Used (Dependent upon Temporary Position): Small hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools; light truck or van

Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving

Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis

Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards. Work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours. Occasional prolonged hours; frequent district-wide travel.

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress

Working Conditions: Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: May require standing for long periods of time. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment. This position requires occasional prolonged and irregular hours, frequent interruptions, and occasional stressful conditions. The position requires repetitive hand motions and prolonged use of computer. The position requires frequent bending, stooping, twisting, pulling, overhead reaching, prolonged sitting, and keyboarding. Position requires the ability to lift 25 pounds to waist high.
