Instrumentation & Controls SME

We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of PLC, SCADA, and Building Management Systems (BMS) within a large-scale industrial manufacturing and R&D environment. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring facility equipment, instrumentation, and control systems operate reliably and effectively while maintaining seamless integration with plant control infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting, instrumentation calibration, industrial automation systems, and facility control platforms. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on PLC-controlled equipment and Building Management Systems (BMS). Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving industrial automation systems, instrumentation, controls, and facility equipment. Configure, calibrate, test, and maintain field instrumentation, sensors, transmitters, and control devices. Conduct loop checks, functional testing, and system verification to ensure proper operation of control systems and communication networks. Diagnose and repair issues related to temperature, pressure, flow, level, and other process instrumentation. Support facility automation and control systems by ensuring equipment is properly integrated and communicating with plant and building control platforms. Investigate and resolve alarms, faults, communication failures, and operational issues to minimize downtime and maximize system reliability. Document maintenance activities, troubleshooting efforts, calibration records, and corrective actions. Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and facilities teams to improve system performance, reliability, and efficiency. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to controls, automation, and instrumentation systems. Required Qualifications Proven experience supporting PLC-based control systems in industrial, manufacturing, semiconductor, life sciences, or facility environments. Hands-on experience with Siemens PLC platforms, including S7 and TIA Portal, or similar PLC systems. Experience with SCADA, HMI, and/or Building Management Systems (BMS). Strong background in instrumentation calibration, configuration, and troubleshooting. Experience performing loop checks, commissioning, and system startup activities. Strong troubleshooting abilities involving sensors, transmitters, controllers, VFDs, and industrial communication networks. Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, control drawings, and wiring diagrams.
