Key Responsibilities\n

• Train police staff on effective techniques to address mental health crises, fostering de-escalation strategies that minimize the need for force.
\n
• Conduct thorough case management by collaborating with third-party entities, such as the Department of Mental Health and various psychiatric facilities, to monitor patient progress and well-being.
\n
• Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation of all patient interactions, treatment plans, and progress reports to ensure compliance and continuity of care.
\n
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with law enforcement agencies, clinicians, hospital staff, and psychiatrists, building a cohesive network that supports patients in crisis.
\n
• Assist officers in executing psychiatric evaluations in the field, determining the necessity for 5150/5585 applications for involuntary detention based on clinical assessments.
\n
• Provide immediate short-term crisis counseling to non-violent individuals suffering from acute mental health episodes, helping them stabilize in the moment.
\n
• Accompany law enforcement officers on mental health response calls, serving as a mental health expert and support system for both officers and clients.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The primary client focus for this role includes arrestees and community members experiencing mental health crises. You will work with individuals presenting various psychiatric symptoms, ranging from anxiety and depression to more severe conditions requiring immediate intervention. Your work will be impactful, as you help to alleviate the immediate distress and lay the groundwork for ongoing therapeutic support and community resources.

• Must hold a current and valid Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) license to practice in California.
