Lead Teacher

Lead Classroom Teacher The lead classroom teacher will provide a safe and nurturing environment for children that encourages and supports social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. The teacher will design and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum according to the guidelines established by Creative Beginnings Child Development Center, nurture positive relationships with parents, children, and colleagues, and ensure safety and supervision of the children at all times while meeting the physical demands of the position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide and maintain an environment in which children may grow physically, emotionally, socially, and mentally. Become well acquainted with each child, aware of their needs, and knowledgeable of their family background and home environment. Prepare lesson plans and post them in the computer room by Monday morning each week and on the parent board in the classroom. The morning is reserved for educational programming, and children participate in a balance of social and academic skills. Plan and carry out daily teaching programs. Each class and age group has its own curriculum that focuses on the interests and needs of the children in that group. Maintain classroom order using teaching techniques appropriate to the age level. Visually monitor children in the class and on the playground, monitor noise level, interact with children on their plane, and actively participate in their activities. Record significant incidents and experiences observed and place them in the child’s portfolio. Provide daily reports on each child with information about that child’s day and keep parents informed of upcoming events. In cooperation with the Director, hold individual conferences with each child’s family as needed (at least bi‑annually). Maintain high ethical standards when dealing with children and their families, and keep all information confidential. Attend classes and workshops for the state‑required minimum of 15 hours of yearly training and additional hours as required by the Director. Participate in CPR and First Aid training when required. Maintain daily attendance totals for the food program and serve breakfast, lunch, and snack to the children. Prepare meals as applicable and maintain records of meals served each day. Conduct yourself in a professional manner and keep all matters regarding the children in confidence. Attend all parent meetings, programs, conferences, faculty and staff meetings unless excused by the Director. Coordinate morning and afternoon arrival and departure of children, ensuring all children are signed in/out by parents and never leave a child unattended. Qualifications High School diploma or GED (minimum). Commonwealth Child Care Credential, CDA, or early childhood education (required). Minimum of 1 year of childcare experience (required).
