Security Design Coordinator

We’re hiring a Security Design Coordinator to work embedded with the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) and collaborate with the Architect of the Capitol supporting critical security and technology initiatives within one of the nation's most iconic and historically significant campuses. If you have AutoCAD/Revit/GIS experience and want to grow into security design, systems coordination, and project management , this is a rare opportunity to do meaningful work in a high-impact environment. About the Role This is a full-time, on-site role based in Washington, DC, working alongside the U.S. Capitol Police and collaborating with the Architect of the Capitol on security and technology projects within one of the nation's most iconic and historically significant campuses. You'll help shape projects where architecture, security, technology, and public safety intersect. The role blends AutoCAD drafting, design coordination, GIS mapping, and field collaboration while providing a clear path toward project management and security technology consulting. What You’ll Do Develop and modify AutoCAD drawings for security and technology systems Support the design of site plans, device layouts, and infrastructure Coordinate with the Architect of the Capitol, engineers, IT teams, facilities staff, and project stakeholders Participate in field investigations, project meetings, and implementation efforts Learn and contribute to security system design (access control, video surveillance, etc.) Support project tracking, documentation, and coordination across teams Assist with GIS mapping of security infrastructure and assets Help develop GIS-based deliverables and support long-term efforts to migrate security information and infrastructure into GIS platforms Continuously expand your technical knowledge through hands-on project experience and mentorship What We’re Looking For 1–5 years of AutoCAD experience (MEP, telecom, or low voltage preferred) Interest in security systems, technology design, or the built environment Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, on-site environment Strong communication and coordination skills Willingness to learn and grow into broader design and project responsibilities Nice to Have Experience with low voltage systems (security, telecom, AV) Exposure to construction documents or design-build environments Interest in public safety or government-related projects Why This Role Is Different Work directly with the U.S. Capitol Police and collaborate with the Architect of the Capitol on projects within one of the most recognizable government campuses in the world.
