Cardiac Electrophysiology Physician

Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit the EDRP application within four months of appointment. Award amounts and eligibility periods are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office. Qualifications United States citizenship or applicable exception. Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine from a VA‑approved school. Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty leading to board certification, or an authorized alternative pathway (see details). Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical requirements: moderate lifting (15‑44 lbs), moderate carrying (15‑44 lbs), reaching over shoulder, use of fingers, walking, standing, kneeling, bending, rapid coordination, vision as specified. Duties Provide direct inpatient and outpatient care to Veterans for evaluation and management of cardiac arrhythmias with rhythm monitoring, ECG interpretation, and advanced EP diagnostics. Perform EP procedures such as pacemaker, bi‑ventricular, ICD implantation, diagnostic EP studies, and arrhythmia ablations. Conduct diagnostic EP studies using intracardiac catheters, guide treatment decisions, and perform catheter ablation procedures. Implant and manage cardiac implantable devices (pacemakers, ICDs, CRT systems) and oversee device clinic and remote monitoring. Respond to consults from primary care and other services, developing EP treatment plans and arranging follow‑up procedures. Oversee the cardiac rhythm device clinic, ensuring timely programming and veteran‑centered follow‑up care. Collaborate with electrophysiology team, cardiologists, imaging technicians, and nursing staff to coordinate EP service delivery. Mentor residents, fellows, and mid‑level providers in EP techniques and device management. Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on EP outcomes and device‑related improvements. Review and update EP care protocols and promote equitable care delivery. Maintain board certifications in cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology, plus ACLS/BLS certifications. Stay current with EP advancements through membership, continuing education, and scholarly activities. Work schedule: Full‑time, Monday‑Friday 8 am‑4:30 pm EST.
