Security Control Assessor Test Engineer (SCATE)LV8D Solutions is looking for a Security Control Assessor Test Engineer (SCATE) to support red team / penetration tester activities in Step 4 of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process to help ensure the secure operations of critical mission systems. This SCATE is an individual contributor and member of a team of high-performing Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) that directly support the NRO Cybersecurity Office. Interested candidates need to thrive in an innovative, fast-paced environment; are highly motivated and not afraid to take on uncharted territory; possess strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills; and be able to prioritize their time to be effective in a dynamic environment.Qualifications: Education / Experience: Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience Clearance: TS/SCI with CI Polygraph Requirements / Responsibilities: Experience evaluating systems and recommending changes to improve the systems' security posture Experience in penetration testing, red team, system / network configuration, and familiarity with different operating systems and virtualization platforms Willingness to obtain an associated certification such as CEH, PenTest, OSCP, OSCE, OSWE, or GPEN, if not already obtained Knowledgeable in hacker / hacktivist group capabilities, intentions and methodologies Experience with incident handling procedures, network threat assessment, and analysis activities Knowledgeable in the security landscape (attack vectors, best practices, and mitigation) Experience using packet capture and analysis tools Experience using computer and network forensics techniques Knowledgeable in hardening techniques Experience in network and web related protocol analysis Experience using industry standard security scanning tools Perform security testing in conjunction with the Security Control Assessment (SCA) team to achieve ATO (Authorization to Operate) Perform application security testing on mission critical IC systems Identify and analyze anomalies in network traffic using metadata Ability to reconstruct a malicious attack or activity based on network traffic Assess network topology and device configurations identifying critical security concerns Perform network monitoring, network mapping, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing Train and mentor cybersecurity professionals Review test plans / procedures, test results, and test reports for completeness and accuracy, including compliance to approved plans, and provide feedback to the GPOC Experience with IC or Department of Defense (DoD) mission systems Develop productive relationships with Prime / Subcontractor counterparts, functional counterparts, and other subject matter experts Author, review, and coordinate cybersecurity documents Ability to lead and be the primary point of contact for one or more projects Effective interpersonal skills (across multiple groups, offices, and organizations) and strong customer engagement skills Ability to communicate very technical subjects to a diverse audience of senior decision makers with varying levels of technical expertise Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and team environmentGeographic Locations: Chantilly, Virginia Travel: Some (~25%) Company Information: LV8D Solutions is a provider of engineering services through knowledgeable and experienced subject matter experts who recommend innovative solutions to solve complex problems.
