Activities Bus Driver

The Albuquerque Academy is seeking a dependable, qualified, and safety-focused Activities Bus Driver to transport students, coaches, and staff to athletic competitions, academic events, and extracurricular activities throughout New Mexico. This position operates a 4446 passenger activity bus and requires a valid CDL Class B with Passenger and School Bus endorsements. Essential Functions

• Safely transport students and staff to and from Academy sponsored events.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Maintain a clean, safe and professional environment for students.
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and school transportation regulations and requirements.
• Ensure safe loading and unloading of all passengers.
• Follow all transportation procedures and traffic regulations.
• Report vehicle issues or route concerns promptly.
• Serve as a positive representative of Albuquerque Academy while traveling with students and staff.
• Communicate professionally with students, parents, and Academy staff.
• Support the School and its mission, always maintaining a high degree of professionalism.
• Foster and maintain a culture of mutual respect, equitable practice, and joy.
• Demonstrate cultural competence and communicate and collaborate effectively across differences.

Other Responsibilities

• Ability to work effectively with students and families.
• Schedule varies based on Academy activities.
• On call availability for other routes preferred.
• Attend employee meetings as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience

• Previous school bus or commercial passenger transportation experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students, parents, coaches, and Academy staff.

Special Requirements

• Valid CDL Class B with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
• Current DOT Medical Certificate.
• Clean driving record.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Experience working with students is preferred.
• Ability to pass all required background checks, motor vehicle record reviews, and pre-employment screenings.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Working Environment

• Primarily afternoon to evening with some weekend requirements based on athletics schedule.
• Work with motivated students in a nationally recognized independent school environment.
• Support student experiences both on campus and across New Mexico.

Physical Demands

• Ability to perform vehicle inspections and safety checks.
• Ability to enter and exit vehicles frequently.
• Ability to assist passengers as needed during loading and unloading.
