Job Title: Substitute Teacher (Pre K-12/ CTE )

Position Summary

We are seeking qualified and dependable Substitute Teachers to provide instructional support for high school and secondary education programs. The Substitute Teacher will maintain classroom continuity, implement lesson plans, manage student behavior, and ensure a productive learning environment in the absence of the regular instructor. Candidates must possess all required Arizona certifications and clearances and be eligible to teach under Arizona Department of Education (ADE) guidelines.

Essential Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom instruction and supervise students in accordance with established lesson plans and curriculum guidelines.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
• Manage classroom behavior and enforce school policies and procedures.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to school administration as needed.
• Take attendance, maintain accurate records, and complete required documentation.
• Utilize educational technology and instructional materials effectively.
• Collaborate with school administrators, faculty, and staff to ensure continuity of instruction.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Uphold confidentiality and comply with all district, state, and federal regulations.

Required Certifications & Clearances

All High School Substitute Teachers must possess:

• Current Arizona Level I IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Current Arizona Department of Education (ADE) Substitute Certificate (PreK–12).

Certification Pathways & Teaching Eligibility

1. PreK–12 Substitute Certificate

Qualified candidates may teach most secondary education programs across campuses.

Restrictions:

Substitutes holding only a PreK–12 Substitute Certificate

These programs require specialized state industry licenses and instructor credentials.

2. Career and Technical Education (CTE) Certificate

• CTE-certified substitute teachers may teach only within their approved career and technical education field.
• Candidates must maintain all applicable CTE certifications, licenses, and endorsements required by the Arizona Department of Education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Valid Arizona substitute teaching certification.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Flexibility to adapt to various subjects, schedules, and instructional environments.
• Knowledge of educational technology and learning management systems preferred.
• Previous teaching, substitute teaching, tutoring, or youth-development experience preferred.

Additional Requirements (All Substitutes)

All substitutes must also:

• Complete three professional reference checks
• Provide proof of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination
