Our employee-owners are committed to safety, service excellence, and teamworkbecause when the company succeeds, we all do.The Role The Safety Specialist General Compliance supports DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and company safety programs. This role focuses on fleet compliance, driver safety, incident response, training, and regulatory reporting while serving as a key safety resource across the organization.What You'll Do:Ensure DOT/FMCSA compliance (DQ files, HOS, DVIRs, MVRs, inspections)Manage ELD and in-vehicle camera systemsLead vehicle incident reporting, investigations, and corrective trainingSupport DOT & Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing programsConduct and support new driver and ongoing safety trainingSupport fleet programs, claims management, OSHA compliance, and safety auditsYour Schedule:Position is on-siteMonday-Friday 8am-5pmSome travel involved, 10%What You Bring:Bachelors degree or equivalent experienceDOT/FMCSA and OSHA compliance experience with CMV fleetsStrong communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and be on-call as neededRequirements:Valid drivers license and clean driving recordClass A CDL (or ability to obtain within 24 months)First Aid/CPR/AED (or ability to obtain within 6 months)Perks That Take Care of You:Medical, Dental & Vision InsuranceEmployee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) Become part-owner of SMS and share in our success401(k) and ROTH IRA with a 4% company matchVacation and Paid HolidaysFlexible Spending Accounts (Medical and Dependent Care)Life Insurance and AD&D InsuranceCompany paid Short & Long-Term DisabilityCompetitive pay with annual wage reviewsLocation: Cottage Grove, WI
