Company Cox Automotive – USA Job Summary Auto Maintenance Technician II – Mid-level Automotive Technician. Works independently or in a team environment at a specified Cox location. No remote option. Flexible work schedule. Hourly base pay $22.02 – $33.08 per hour, with possible commission or incentive. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance: oil, oil filter, fuel filter, transmission flush, and vehicle inspection for mechanical deficiencies. Based on certification levels, perform repairs and maintenance including OBD II systems, brake components, tires, tune‑ups, suspension components, aerial lifts, electrical systems, State Safety Inspections, interior/exterior components, engine and drive line components, etc. Maintain and repair shop equipment; keep shop area clean and tidy. Work in accordance with safety standards and dispose of all fluids safely. Create and maintain vehicle history and maintenance records. May up‑fit new vehicles with necessary equipment. Perform other duties as assigned by management. For Level II & III: perform light to major repairs; advanced vehicle diagnostics; coordinate with vendors for parts and repairs; provide roadside assistance; use custom equipment for moderate design/fabrication tasks including welding; troubleshoot and repair complex hydraulic systems, generators, electrical systems, hybrids, and onboard computer systems; interact with customers and demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills; drive service center performance; enable efficient diagnosis, repair, and replacement of general automotive parts and accessories; conduct a wide variety of diagnoses and repairs including brakes, drivability, emissions, steering/suspension, electrical, state safety and emissions testing, HVAC, major engine and hydraulics. Qualifications Minimum: high school diploma or GED (or 3+ years of related work experience servicing vehicles). 3+ years vehicle service and repair experience. Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record. Preferred: continue training to maintain current A.S.E. status and to meet technology and fleet changes. Requires some A.S.E. Automotive or Truck Certification or other related certifications. Physical & Vision Requirements Frequently required to stand, walk, reach, talk, hear, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, squat, climb, and tolerate excess noise levels, car exhaust and outdoor weather conditions. Vision requirements: close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Drug Testing To be employed, you must clear a pre‑employment drug test. Cox Automotive does not currently administer a marijuana test for this position. A drug‑free workplace is required; possession, use or being under the influence of illegal drugs during work hours, on company property and/or in company vehicles is prohibited.
