We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide mechanical design and engineering support for product development and cost-reduction initiatives within the HVAC and refrigeration industry. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in mechanical product design, 3D CAD, FEA, design optimization, and cost-reduction methodologies.
Key Responsibilities- Provide mechanical design and engineering support across product development and cost-reduction initiatives for refrigeration truck and trailer units.
- Identify and evaluate cost-saving opportunities across products, components, and assemblies.
- Develop, modify, and optimize 3D CAD models, mechanical designs, and detailed engineering drawings .
- Perform CAE/FEA analysis , including structural, vibration, and fatigue analysis as required.
- Support Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) , including technical analysis, documentation, implementation, and closure.
- Propose and implement cost-optimized design changes while maintaining product functionality, quality, and reliability.
- Perform design rationalization, alternate part development, and material optimization.
- Analyze cost-saving potential and support savings validation and governance reviews.
- Participate in technical reviews such as TRB/QRB to evaluate design feasibility and robustness.
- Support project planning, tracking, and execution activities.
- Participate in weekly, monthly, and quarterly project reviews and provide project status updates.
- Prepare technical documentation, design-change summaries, reports, and management presentations.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
- Follow up on action items and support timely project and engineering change closure.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Senior-level experience in mechanical engineering, product design, and development .
- Experience with HVAC or refrigeration systems .
- Strong experience with 3D CAD modeling and engineering drawings .
- Experience with FEA/CAE , including structural, vibration, and/or fatigue analysis.
- Experience with DTV, VAVE, value engineering, or product cost-reduction initiatives .
- Experience with ECN/ECO and engineering change management .
- Strong understanding of design optimization and material selection.
- Experience with design rationalization and alternate part development.
- Experience supporting TRB/QRB or similar engineering design reviews .
- Project management and project status reporting experience.
- Strong technical documentation and presentation skills.
- Experience with cost-savings validation and tracking.
- Experience working with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Experience with refrigeration truck and trailer units is highly preferred.
