Human Resources Operations Specialist

Under close or general supervision, the Personnel Specialist performs the full range of personnel transaction duties related to appointments and separations, pay, attendance, and benefits. Performance in this position requires the ability to strictly follow directions and processes; to perform work in a legacy payroll system and work within various software programs; independently and accurately interpret and apply reference materials and laws, rules, and regulations; provide excellent customer service, communicate professionally verbally and in writing with clarity and detail; organize tasks and prioritize work; and accurately complete work under strict deadlines.

***This position is eligible for the Recruitment and Retention Pay Differential (Pay Diff # 240) of $2400 - $4800 yearly after 12 qualifying pay periods.***

Note: Posted salaries do not reflect the 2 - 4.62% pay reduction in exchange for 3.5 - 8 hours per month of leave arising from the Personal Leave Program 2025. Information related to salary reductions is available in Section 2113 of the CalHR Human Resources Manual.

Working Conditions

• Work in an indoor office setting located in Sacramento.
• Alternate work week schedules and flexible work hours available (ex: 4/10/40 or 9/8/80).
• Occasional telework may be available for employees who can satisfactorily perform their essential work functions independently upon completion of training and the probation period.
• Core business hours of 9 am to 3 pm.
• Sit, bend, stoop, and stand while working.
• Daily use of standard office equipment.
• Temperature controlled office with artificial light.
• Transport items weighing up to 26 pounds.
