Job Details Location: 4500 Riddle By-Pass Rd, Riddle, OR, 97469, United States Job Category: Quality/Lab Industry: Operations - Admin Employee Type: Full-time Contact Information Name: Roseburg Forest Products Email: View email address on click.appcast.io Purpose Accountable for managing site’s quality assurance and control program including but not limited to: leading and pro-actively supporting all safety, environmental and quality regulations, product testing and adherence to standards, targets and recipes with the ability to optimize systems, lead maintenance day preventative measures for equipment and calibrations, use statistical process control (SPC) tools to lead decision making while coaching basic data analysis to teams and ability to improve quality systems. Key Responsibilities Demonstrate the ability to identify and address safety and environmental concerns through peer feedback on the floor and fully participate in site health and safety programs Educate team members on basic descriptive statistics with relationship to data distribution Use statistical process control charts to identify when a product or process is stable and in control with reference to product/process standards and targets Identify and audit routine QA/QC testing to ensure compliance to standardized test methods Construct simple work instructions that will aid in the development of team members and improve basic quality systems Provide direction for simple investigations regarding non-conformance based on process and product targets Determine disposition in accordance with product standards with the ability to re‑grade as per sites specification allowances Consistently demonstrates a high level of data accuracy and is able to quickly identify and correct data entry errors Lead in visual finished goods product audits to ensure packaging and required client expectations Lead in troubleshooting and resolving non‑conformances of finished product packaging Generate and analyze reports and charts with the ability to make adjustments to correct for simple issues Identify and lead troubleshooting efforts in basic process control to eliminate special cause variation seen through test results Manage raw material inventories with forward thinking, seeking optimized levels Lead efforts in raw material testing and evaluations Rationalize key process inputs to desired product outputs Lead preventive maintenance tasks and calibrations during maintenance days Support process and operator rounds to identify and pro‑actively locate quality or equipment issues Lead in process and product tests/trials as assigned and compile, analyze, and report trial test results as required Modify and create process and product SOPs, JSAs, check sheets and other QMS documentation Provide guidance and leadership to team members with focus to adherence to process control plans and recipes Optimize product recipes as allowed by Technical Manager Maintain housekeeping standards in the quality lab and supporting areas Willingness to perform in a relief capacity for Quality Coordinator Participate in site continuous improvement projects, (6S, Kaizen, etc.) Other duties as assigned Models company core values Required Qualifications Associate’s Degree and five years of experience in laboratory work, quality control, or general manufacturing; or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience Knowledge of and ability to follow all quality and process standards Demonstrated ability to operate a computer and supporting software, to include spreadsheet and statistical package Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and production processes Demonstrated ability to operate sample preparation and testing equipment Knowledge of inventory management Excellent verbal and written communication as well as interpersonal skills Proficient math skills and statistical knowledge, including concepts Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of material handling equipment (both hand tools and electrical/motorized equipment) Ability to climb stairs and lift up to 50 pounds Demonstrated ability to work while wearing a respirator and/or other safety clothing or equipment Associate degree in Forest Products, Engineering, Wood Science or related scientific field, or equivalent industrial or wood manufacturing experience of 2-4 years Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Forest Products, Engineering, Wood Science or related field preferred Five (5) years plywood, composite, or engineered wood manufacturing experience ASQ certifications, Lean Six Sigma training, or other applicable training desirable About Roseburg Forest Products Founded in 1936, Roseburg Forest Products is a privately held company based in Springfield, Oregon.
