Mainframe Developer (COBOL)

Akkodis is seeking a Mainframe Developer (COBOL) for a Contract with a client in Dearborn, MI (Hybrid). The ideal candidate will lead development and production support of a missioncritical mainframe application, ensuring stability, accuracy, and timely enhancements.

Rate Range: $60/hour to $70/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.


Mainframe Developer (COBOL) Job Responsibilities include:

• Lead development, maintenance, and production support for a missioncritical COBOL mainframe application with both online and batch processing.
• Perform rapid rootcause analysis by tracing complex legacy code and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
• Support enhancements and new development, including analysis, design, testing, deployment, and operational triage.
• Balance production supports planned releases while ensuring data integrity, security, and coding standards.
• Collaborate with global teams, product owners, and interfacing applications to resolve complex technical issues.
• Bridge legacy mainframe systems with modern technologies (e.g., SAP/S4) and guide small teams through technical challenges.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of overall IT experience with at least 10 years in COBOL/mainframe application development and support.
• Deep expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and debugging complex legacy mainframe applications in production environments.
• Proven ability to lead technical problem resolution, perform rapid root cause analysis, and bridge legacy systems with modern technologies (e.g., SAP/S4) in an Agile environment.

Pay Details: $60.00 to $70.00 per hour
