Maintenance Worker/Driver I

These positions are responsible for performing roadway maintenance work, roadway striping, grass cutting, tree trimming and snow removal. The Maintenance Worker/Driver I will work out of an assigned District located throughout St. Louis County. Training to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (Class A CDL) will be provided during the initial period of employment. The work schedule will be typically Monday - Friday 7:00 - 3:30 with mandatory 12 hour snow shifts. The starting salary for the Maintenance Worker I will be $18.74 per hour. The Maintenance Driver I position which requires a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) will have a starting salary of $21.50 per hour. There will be an additional $6 per hour while performing snow removal. As an employer, St. Louis County cares about the health and well-being of our employees. Examples of duties include repairing and replacing asphalt roadways and surfaces, maintaining, repairing or installing concrete structures or surfaces, caring for and propagating plant life, performing mandatory snow duty, and performing administrative tasks associated with the work.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED with a current, valid driver's license without driving restrictions. Prefer Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Applicants for this position must be physically able and willing to perform hard manual labor, work under poor conditions, be able to work overtime, possess a valid driver's license and their own transportation (public transportation is not available to most work locations) and have a safe driving record for the past three years. Pre-employment testing includes a drug screen after a conditional offer. Employment is contingent upon negative test results. Mandatory ongoing testing in compliance with federal regulations applies to employees with a Commercial Driver's License.
