AFATDS Senior Systems Engineer Onsite

Salary: $86,800 - 165,200 per year Requirements:

• Experience with military command-and-control applications such as AFATDS, Cannon Fire Control Systems, and/or Rocket/MLRS Fire Control Systems.
• Experience with Tactical Operations Center activities and familiarity with military networking operations in artillery units at Battery level or higher.
• Typically, 10 or more years of experience in artillery or fire support operations.
• Typically, a STEM degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and at least 3 years of experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Secret security clearance; an active and existing clearance is required after the first day. U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility.
• Preferred: Bachelors, masters, or doctoral degree in engineering, science, mathematics, physics, or computer science.
• Preferred: Military trainer experience (Army, USMC, Air Force, or similar), ideally as a platform-certified artillery instructor.
• Preferred: Strong verbal and written communication skills for explaining concepts and designs to management and military command personnel at various levels.
• Preferred: Subject matter expertise in artillery command-and-control functions, capabilities, activities, and automated systems supporting artillery and fire support operations.
• Preferred: Active Secret or higher U.S. security clearance.
• Preferred: Valid U.S. passport.

• Design, prepare, and deliver AFATDS/IFATDS capabilities briefings for management, customers, and end users.
• Lead site surveys, document findings, and present results and recommendations to management, customers, and end-user leadership.
• Participate in program review meetings with current and prospective customers and end users.
• Advise Program Managers as a tactical and technical subject matter expert during pre-contract and project execution phases, as needed.
• Contribute to the development of future program plans.
• Provide recommendations and input for proposal Statements of Work and Project Work Scope content.
• Perform technical planning and systems integration, verification, and validation for IFATDS software components.
• Write, revise, and edit technical documents that clearly communicate specifications and instructions to customers and end users.
• Develop new or enhanced system and product requirements and capabilities, including improvements to external system integration.

We are hiring a Senior Systems Engineer for our International Field Artillery Tactical Data System (IFATDS) programs within the Systems Engineering Integration and Test department at Raytheon Company, managed by Collins Aerospace and part of RTX. Our work supports the integration of fire support command-and-control software with end-user weapons platforms, sensors, peripheral systems, and command vehicles through Direct Commercial Sale and Foreign Military Sales contracts. Our Mission Systems team serves civilian, military, and government customers with secure communications and mission systems. This is a primarily onsite role in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with expected domestic and international travel of approximately 25% to 60%, depending on operational tempo; the position is contingent on contract award and customer funding. The estimated salary range is $86,800–$165,200, with compensation determined by factors such as experience, location, education, and skills.
