This is a director-level role with full ownership of the kitchen operation, direct leadership of the Assistant BOH Director and BOH shift leaders, and the chance to build something from scratch alongside a team that has already set industry records.If you are a bilingual kitchen leader who is ready to move from being the best operator in the room to being the best developer of operators, this role was built for you.LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTThe Director of BOH Operations must be bilingual in English and Spanish. Our kitchen team is predominantly Spanish-speaking. The ability to coach, correct, develop, and connect team members to our mission in their primary language is essential to this role. This is not a preference.WHAT YOU WILL OWNThe KitchenAll kitchen systems end to end: preparation, production flow, holding, product quality, and speedDeployment templates for every daypart, reflecting the forecast, labor targets, and team capabilityBuild toward throughput that sets new standards for this marketIdentify and solve production bottlenecks as volume scalesEquipment maintained and operational at all timesFood SafetyOwn the food safety culture at expert levelTemperature, cross-contamination, FIFO, hygiene: consistent every shift, for every leaderServSafe certified and ensure all BOH leaders are trained and certifiedYour Leaders and TeamDirectly lead and develop the Assistant BOH DirectorDevelop BOH shift leaders into proactive systems thinkers, not reactive supervisorsKnow every team member's performance tier, certifications, and development trajectoryConnect every BOH team member to the mission, in their language, in real floor momentsIdentify high-potential team members early and build development pathsFloor LeadershipYou lead from the kitchen, at minimum 3-4 times a week on shift. You cannot build systems you do not execute or develop leaders you do not lead alongside.Set the tone the moment you walk in. Energy and standard are both contagiousObserve, ask, and develop shift leaders' judgment rather than replacing itHold every standard calmly and consistently, every shiftFOH-BOH PartnershipWork closely with both FOH Directors so kitchen and front of house move as one teamBuild real-time communication systems for peaks and transitionsParticipate in weekly leadership meetings with shared accountability for the whole restaurantSCHEDULE AND HOURSOur leaders average about 45 hours per week. You will always have Sundays off. Chick-fil-A has been closed on Sundays since 1946.WHO WE ARE LOOKING FORRequiredBilingual in English and Spanish. Our Owner/Operator, Ellie Kim, has 20 years of Chick-fil-A experience. Her restaurants have consistently ranked in the top 10 chainwide for drive-thru volume, won award-winning customer experience scores in the Northeast, and generated award-winning profits. Her Manhattan location set a chain-wide record that still stands: over 760 transactions in a single hour. Before relocating to Nanuet, Chick-fil-A selected Ellie to become the first Operator in New York City awarded a multi-unit agreement. She turned it down to be here.Executive Director Lance McCaskill started his career with Ellie in Northern Virginia and helped build her Manhattan location. He went on to corporate roles at Shake Shack and Raising Cane's before turning down an offer to lead an AI product at a software company and coming back to build with Ellie again. The innovations he developed, including iPad ordering in multi-lane drive-thrus, outside payment, and converted drive-thru doors, have since been adopted by other major brands across the industry.We are building it all over again in Nanuet.
