Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)

This position is responsible for assessing the needs of each patient before and during a surgical procedure while ensuring patient safety. The RN will outline individual care plans, implement, evaluate, and document care for patients during surgical procedures. This role includes providing leadership within the operating room team and facilitating communication with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment and Care Planning (40%) : Assess the surgical patient's needs and develop a personalized plan of care. Implement and evaluate the care plan throughout the procedure, making necessary adjustments to prioritize patient safety.
• Supervision and Coordination (30%) : Oversee all activities within the operating room, anticipate and coordinate any scheduling changes, assemble necessary equipment and supplies, assist anesthesia as needed, and maintain the sterile field.
• Communication (20%) : Effectively communicate with the patient, family members, physicians, the operating room team, supervisors, managers, and ancillary departments.
• Staff Development (10%) : Engage in continuous professional development by attending in-services, educational meetings, and seminars aimed at enhancing leadership and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) setting - Required
• Experience with open-heart surgery - Required
• Recent travel work history - Highly Preferred
• Active Michigan RN License - Required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association - Required
• Skills checklist relevant to CVOR, completed within the last year - Required
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years - Required
