Direct Support Professional (Citizens)

Direct Support Professional (Citizens) Citizens Options Unlimited is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide life-enriching support to individuals in our Residential Services program. Responsibilities Guide and support individuals with intellectual and other disabilities in all aspects of daily living, including self‑care, health and safety, household chores, socialization and overall wellbeing. Promote independence by providing the appropriate level of support tailored to each person’s needs. Assist with medication administration, meal preparation, transportation to medical appointments and recreational outings. Implement and document treatment plans, medical case notes and communication logs to track progress toward valued outcomes. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss progress and share information. Adhere to agency policies on overtime, scheduling, minimum staffing and the use of adaptive equipment. Mentor new Direct Support Staff through routine demonstrations and training manual reviews. Maintain a safe and clean environment by helping with household chores and participating as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Valid NYS driver’s license with qualified driver status throughout employment. Strong communication skills and the ability to understand written and oral directives. Capacity to work in an unsupervised setting with substantial physical contact. Successful completion of a fingerprint background check. Fingerprint/background check required. Physical demands may include lifting and transferring individuals.
