Grants - Environmental Specialist, Reclamation

We have an exciting opportunity for you!We are looking for an Environmental professional to support the environmental monitoring activities at our Grants Reclamation Project (GRP) closure site. With oversight, the successful candidate will be responsible for the groundwater monitoring program while supporting all environmental programs and regulatory compliance obligations to ensure that all legal and other environmental obligations related to reclamation and closure are achieved.At Barrick, our vision is to be the world’s most valued gold and copper mining business by finding, developing, and owning the best assets with the best people. We are committed to a safe work environment sending every person home safe and healthy every day and leaving a sustainable legacy on our host communities.Responsibilities:Coordinate and perform groundwater monitoring activities associated with reclamation activities, including sample collection, shipping, and data management.Use a variety of instruments and equipment to gather data and conduct monitoring.Document relevant field observations/notes and maintain monitoring equipment, and laboratory space.Perform other monitoring necessary for regulatory compliance, including pond data collection, input, and data management.Ensure conformance with site-specific Nuclear Regulatory Commission License SUA-1471, New Mexico Environmental Department Permit DP-200 permit requirements, and Standard Operating Procedures.Manage contractor work, as applicable.Assist other personnel in achieving site objectives.Responsible for after hours on-call response to environmental and/or operational incidents, as needed.Position could require occasional weekend work to support groundwater treatment system operations.Position involves extensive fieldwork and requires the ability to regularly walk over uneven, sloped, rocky, wet or icy ground and the ability to lift 50 or more pounds consistently and safely.
