If so, Guardian is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as an Actuary, Group Benefit Pricing & Transformation. The successful candidate will lead and transform actuarial pricing capabilities across Guardian’s Group Benefits portfolio, including dental, vision, absence and disability, life, and supplemental health offerings. This role requires deep actuarial pricing expertise, sound business judgment, an innovative mindset, and leadership skills to drive pricing sophistication and strengthen data-driven decision‑making. You will Serve as a technical actuarial pricing leader and strategic transformation thought partner, connecting actuarial expertise with enterprise priorities, disciplined risk selection, emerging trends, and pricing adequacy. Manage pricing analyses, including experience monitoring, actual-to-expected reviews, assumption assessments, and profitability driver identification. Partner with senior leaders, pricing actuaries, data scientists, technology teams, and business stakeholders to modernize Group Benefits pricing tools and processes by integrating predictive analytics, automation, and AI-enabled decision support to improve pricing accuracy, consistency, and efficiency. Translate complex actuarial, financial, and technical analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for technical and non‑technical audiences, including senior leadership. Lead and develop a team of actuarial professionals and students by setting priorities, managing performance, and building capabilities required for both pricing excellence and transformation delivery. You have Significant experience in Group Benefits pricing or related insurance disciplines, with a strong understanding of manual rating, experience rating, risk segmentation, rate adequacy, and profitability analysis. Strong analytical and technical capabilities to synthesize complex information, identify key drivers, evaluate emerging trends, and develop actionable insights and recommendations. Strategic problem‑solving skills, with experience applying predictive analytics, machine learning, or pricing modernization solutions to improve business decision‑making preferred. Ability to influence senior leaders, technical teams, and business stakeholders by translating actuarial pricing and transformation topics into clear business recommendations. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables simultaneously. Demonstrated experience leading actuarial teams, including developing talent, setting priorities, and managing performance. At least 5 years of experience in the insurance industry and FSA designation from the Society of Actuaries.
Reporting Relationship
As Actuary, Group Benefit Pricing & Transformation, you will report to the Head of Group Benefits Pricing & Analytics.
Location
Hybrid role - 3 days in office in Hudson Yards, NYC or Bethlehem, PA office; 2 days WFH. In‑person collaboration is essential to building trusted relationships and driving strategic alignment across the organization. Travel as determined by the People Leader.
Salary Range: $152,290.00 - $250,195.00 The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
