Senior Software Engineer - AI Legal CoCounsel

Salary: $118,400 - 219,800 per year Requirements:

• We are looking for a JD, formal legal training, or equivalent experience gained in a legal practice setting.
• We need fluency in legal language and proven experience collaborating with lawyers, legal teams, or legal operations stakeholders.
• We require 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years focused on AI/ML or LLM-driven applications.
• We need strong Python skills and hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks and production AI systems.
• We expect a solid grasp of machine learning fundamentals, LLM evaluation approaches, prompt engineering, and AI system design for specialized workflows.
• We look for experience building and integrating AI solutions into production using APIs, scalable pipelines, and modern cloud-based tools.
• We value excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in ambiguous, client-facing environments with both legal and technical stakeholders.

• We participate in high-value client engagements by leading technical discovery, defining legal use cases, and building trust with legal and technical stakeholders.
• We turn complex legal workflows, business challenges, and client objectives into solution designs, technical specifications, and delivery plans.
• We design and deliver AI-enabled solutions for legal processes such as contract review, litigation support, discovery automation, and regulatory analysis.
• We build RAG pipelines, custom AI agents, and multi-step workflows using CoCounsel, Westlaw, Practical Law, and connected enterprise systems.
• We lead LLM assessment work for legal applications, including output benchmarking, hallucination analysis, citation quality testing, and suitability validation for high-stakes matters.
• We ensure our deployed solutions meet ethical AI, data protection, and enterprise security expectations while preserving the trust legal professionals require.
• We mentor junior engineers, develop reusable solution assets, and assess emerging AI techniques to improve team quality and delivery.
