Plant Accountant

Description General Description of Major Tasks of Position: This entry level position is responsible for general financial tasks across the Yamaha Jet Boat Manufacturing site. The plant accountant will be responsible for learning, understanding, and maintaining foundational tasks in the Finance & Accounting organization, supporting finance department and plant management goals. Key tasks include: ~50% of effort performing month‑end close items to include journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, monthly financial reports, and internal control procedures. Remaining ~50% effort is to learn and support current staff with product costing, financial analysis, capital accounting, intercompany billing, AP/AR, forecasting, and annual budgeting. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Perform various month‑end closing. Write and enter journal entries. 15% Prepare monthly financial reports. 15% Prepare account reconciliation for balance sheet accounts. 15% Prepare various support schedules required for internal controls. 5% Perform projects or analysis to improve financial processes or costs. 20% Support preparation of budget and forecasts. 10% Support bi‑annual boat costing process. 10% Support process analysis for inventory and related variances. 5% Support fixed asset process and prepare reports as requested. 5% Other duties as assigned. Minimum Educational And Work Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. 0–5 years of finance experience; experience in manufacturing preferred. Capability to perform complex financial modeling and analysis and demonstrate proficiency in database management and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques as well as proficiency with financial statement analysis and projection. Strong attention to detail and strong analytical ability required. Desire to learn a large breadth of F&A tasks, with opportunities to leverage those capabilities into ownership/management/leadership positions. Skills Knowledge, training, and application of Microsoft Office; especially Excel to include functions, lookups, pivot tables, and macros. Knowledge and/or application of ERP systems: SAP, QAD, and FAS 100 preferred. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and math. Environmental and Working Conditions Work involves walking, standing, sitting, reaching, etc. Requires near vision, hearing and talking.
