Job Title: CNC Machining Center Specialist / Programmer
Job Description
A long-established manufacturing company is seeking a highly skilled CNC Machining Center Specialist / Expert to support a growing workload and backfill several recent retirements. In this hands-on, non-management role, you will operate, tool, and program 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machines to produce high-precision components. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys precision machining, takes pride in craftsmanship, and is looking for long-term stability in a mature, well-established environment.
Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining centers to produce precision components to specification.
• Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam to ensure efficient and accurate machining operations.
• Select and configure appropriate tooling, fixtures, and work-holding methods to achieve optimal cutting performance and part quality.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining strategies, tolerances, and process steps.
• Verify part dimensions and quality using appropriate measuring tools and techniques, and adjust programs or setups as needed.
• Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, programming, and machine performance to minimize downtime and scrap.
• Optimize machining parameters such as feeds, speeds, and tool paths to improve cycle times and tool life while maintaining quality.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to refine processes and ensure consistent, repeatable machining results.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, including routine checks of machines and tooling to ensure reliable operation.
• Document programs, setups, and process changes clearly so they can be reused and referenced for future production runs.

Essential Skills

• Extensive hands-on experience operating 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining centers in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Strong proficiency in CNC programming, including creating and modifying programs directly for multi-axis machines.
• Advanced experience using Mastercam for programming CNC machining centers, including toolpath creation and optimization.
• Proven ability to perform CNC machining operations from setup through production, including tooling selection and adjustment.
• Solid understanding of machining principles, cutting parameters, and tool selection for a variety of materials.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation accurately.
• Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving issues related to CNC programs, tooling, and machine operation.
• High attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise components.
• Ability to work independently in a non-management, hands-on role with minimal supervision.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with additional CAM systems such as Surfcam and Esprit for CNC programming.
• Experience in programming multi-axis CNC machines beyond standard 3-axis operations.
• Familiarity with a range of CNC machining processes, including roughing, finishing, and complex contouring.
• Comfort working with multiple programming tools and adapting to different software environments as needed.
• Willingness to share knowledge and best practices with colleagues to support continuous improvement.

Work Environment
The role is based in a production machining environment with CNC machining centers, including 3-, 4-, and 5-axis equipment. You will work directly on the shop floor in a hands-on capacity, programming and operating machines using Mastercam and potentially other CAM systems such as Surfcam and Esprit. The setting emphasizes precision, organization, and safety, with a focus on maintaining clean and orderly workstations around the machines. Work hours are typical of a manufacturing facility and may involve standard full-time shifts aligned with production needs. Appropriate industrial work attire and adherence to standard shop safety practices and personal protective equipment requirements are expected.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Oklahoma City, OK.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
