Director of Occupational Therapy / Rehabilitation Services
A community-focused healthcare organization in Central California, near Soledad, is seeking an experienced Director of Occupational Therapy to provide clinical leadership while maintaining an active patient care practice.
This is a full-time leadership opportunity for an Occupational Therapist who wants to remain clinically involved while helping shape department operations, staff development, quality, compliance, and program growth. Approximately 70% of the role is direct patient care and 30% is dedicated to leadership and administrative responsibilities.
The position offers competitive compensation of $119,828 to $158,475 annually and the opportunity to lead an Occupational Therapy program within a collaborative rehabilitation environment.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Provide clinical oversight and leadership for the Occupational Therapy department.
- Maintain an active patient caseload, with approximately 70% of time devoted to evaluation and treatment.
- Supervise and support Occupational Therapists, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, Rehabilitation Technicians, and students as appropriate.
- Serve as a clinical resource, mentor, and preceptor for rehabilitation staff.
- Oversee staff orientation, competency assessment, continuing education, and professional development.
- Establish and maintain departmental policies, procedures, clinical standards, and performance expectations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable state, federal, accreditation, and professional standards.
- Review clinical documentation and support department quality and performance-improvement initiatives.
- Develop staffing plans based on patient volume and department needs.
- Participate in recruitment, retention, and development of Occupational Therapy staff.
- Manage departmental budget considerations, including staffing, supplies, productivity, revenue, and expenses.
- Support program development and other administrative initiatives.
- Coordinate clinical education and student programs with university and training partners.
- Collaborate with rehabilitation leadership, physicians, clinical teams, administration, and other departments.
Schedule
- Full-time, permanent position
- Day shift
- 8-hour shifts
- Approximately 70% clinical care and 30% leadership/administrative responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
- Current California Occupational Therapist license.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist .
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in Occupational Therapy.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and work effectively with limited supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable providing education and presenting to groups.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- AOTA membership.
- Hospital-based Occupational Therapy experience.
- Previous mentoring, supervisory, or multidisciplinary leadership experience.
- Certified Clinical Instructor.
- Experience with Cerner EMR.
- Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
Compensation
- $119,828 to $158,475 annually
- Equivalent posted hourly range of approximately $57.61 to $76.19/hour
