Details Work in a 33-bed ICU with an average daily census of 16 patients Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3 for adult patients Care for trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker, stroke, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases Titrate cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation medications Read, interpret, and document telemetry strips using GE monitors with tele tech oversight Manage respiratory equipment ranging from nasal cannula to ventilators, troubleshooting as needed Supported by nurse aides based on census and a Healthcare Support tech 3 days per week 12-hour day shifts from 0630-1830 Self-scheduling available for core staff; block scheduling not guaranteed for travelers Float to PCU and occasionally MedSurg at a 1:4 or 1:5 ratio Work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) Uses EPIC EMR On-call staff must arrive within 30 minutes if called back in Requirements Active RN license (NE state or Compact/NLC) Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS Acute care and Level 2 trauma setting experience EPIC EMR experience preferred Must be able to titrate high-acuity drips and monitor telemetry Driver's license required at time of consideration to verify residence Additional Information Provide direct ICU nursing care including drip titration, telemetry monitoring, and respiratory equipment management One shift of unit-specific orientation provided Must maintain a minimum of 7 or fewer RTO days per 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after submission Minimum of 2 holidays worked if they fall within the contract timeframe Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility Candidates may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past year Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply will result in contract termination RNs must pass a Pass/Fail open-book exam on orientation skills with a minimum score of 90% First-time travelers may be considered for this position American Traveler Job ID P-746544.
