Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job TitleTakes designs of components from initial concept to production. Uses engineering tools such as 3D CAD and analysis packages in the design process. Develops and implements functionality and reliability tests of designs. Responsible for designing any special test equipment or fixtures for reliability and functionality tests. Develops methods and procedures for testing components. Solves problems related to the design, manufacture, function and reliability of equipment. Gathers data from the field, manufacturing floor, quality control and other sources in determining cause of the problem. Uses structured problem-solving techniques in finding the solutions to problems related to components Works with the Manufacturing Engineering group to develop processes for the manufacture of components. Works directly with suppliers on specification, development and application of purchased parts. Works with support personnel in fabrication of equipment, and in the testing of components. Works with the quality control group to make sure parts conform to specifications. Develops quality plans for parts. Travels to customer sites to oversee installations, inspect equipment, test components and subsystems, and to assist/advise in the repair of existing equipment. Experienced in designing major components of food processing equipment. 3D modeling experience (SolidWorks preferred) Demonstrated experience in the design of sheet metal, machined, extruded, cast and molded parts. Knowledge of welding and the design and specification of weldments. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and technical manuals.
