Education Coordinator

Overview Riverview on the Appomattox Health and Rehab Center in Hopewell, Virginia is seeking a Clinical Educator (RN) to lead onboarding and ongoing education for the nursing team. The role emphasizes explaining the rationale behind procedures, mentoring new hires, and building a confident, high-quality nursing culture. Responsibilities Lead new hire orientation and onboarding, including Relias mandatory e-learning assignments Plan, design, implement, and evaluate annual and ongoing in-service education for all staff Validate competency checklists for all nursing employees upon hire, annually, and as needed Select and oversee exemplar preceptors to ensure consistent, high-quality on-the-floor training Conduct daily clinical rounds to assess educational and practice needs across the nursing team Observe medication and treatment passes for licensed nurses during orientation Ensure CNAs complete a minimum of 12 hours of regulatory in-service education annually Coordinate TB screening, influenza, pneumonia, and COVID vaccine programs for staff and patients Coordinate clinical practicum opportunities with Schools of Nursing and Nursing Assistant Programs Prepare monthly in-service summaries and Relias completion reports for Quality Improvement Ensure educational programs are accessible on all shifts, including nights and weekends Qualifications Active RN licensure in good standing with the Virginia Department of Health Professions Sound knowledge of adult education theory and the ability to translate clinical complexity into clear instruction Proficiency in clinical skills including IV therapy Familiarity with Federal, State, and OSHA regulations in long-term care Comfort with technology: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and learning management platforms (Relias) Flexibility to support all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed A genuine passion for growing people — not just checking training boxes Riverview on the Appomattox Health and Rehab Center • Hopewell, Virginia • Equal Opportunity Employer #J-18808-Ljbffr COMMONWEALTH CARE OF ROANOKE
