Manufacturing Paint Technician

Job Description

This position is responsible for painting carbon fiber and fiberglass parts. Employee works in a team environment and adheres to the company’s quality program, policies, and initiatives. Compensation is based on applicant's experience and expertise in manufacturing painting.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Operates and uses all paint department equipment properly and safely
• Removes foreign debris from parts
• Masks and protects parts that are not to be painted or coated
• Mixes paint according to specifications
• Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color/finish
• Paints surface using sprayer as appropriate
• Inspects painted units for quality of workmanship, noting any runs, sags and unpainted areas
• Maintains tools and keeps equipment clean and in a proper state of repair
• Keeps work area clean, including paint booths
• Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
• Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.
• Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, etc.
• Monitor department supplies/materials and communicate with supervisor when levels are low
• Place finished parts on designate Work-In-Progress [WIP] racks
• Scan incoming and outgoing parts

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time
• Constant and repetitive movement of fingers, hands, and wrists
• Must be able to lift 15+ lbs.

Minimum Requirements

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
• Ability to manage time to meet production schedules and deadlines
• Functions well in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
• Demonstrates excellent team building and teamwork skills
• Possess good decision-making and organizational skills
• Good communication with team members and management
• Highly motivated and results-oriented
• Possess an eye for detail
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with overtime when production demands
• Ability to adapt to changing job duties, requirements, and cross training as needed
• Possess reliable transportation
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
