Accountant (Factory Operational Accountant)

Learn more about this agency Duties Help Responsible for the day-to-day functions of the industrial operations at the remote location in regards to property management, inventory management, warehouse management, financial and cost accounting and other related accounting activities that will assist management in the decision making process. Responsible for validating the automated integrated information system data in regards to manufacturing and standard costs by performing compliance testing and participating in the internal compliance audit processes and function. Responsible for utilizing costing ratios and analysis to ensure accuracy of manufacturing and job order costing, cost allocation and performance measurements. Responsible for assisting with the budget development for submission to management detailing projected operating levels for sales, earnings, overhead, inventory levels and capital expenditures for the factory. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and is performed on a regular and recurring basis. Requirements Help Conditions of employment

- Selective Service Requirement:
- 1. Meet CTAP or ICTAP eligibility criteria;
- 2. Be rated well-qualified for the position, scoring at least half of the total possible points for the vacancy KSAs or competencies; and
- 3. Submit the appropriate documentation to support your CTAP or ICTAP eligibility:
- A copy of the agency notice (i.e., separation notice or agency RIF letter),
- Most recent performance appraisal, and
- Most recent SF-50 showing current/former position, grade, promotion potential, and duty location.

- Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law;
- A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or
- Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a)the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.
- Experience which demonstrates the responsibility of financial, costing, inventory, warehouse, inmate payroll and other accounting activities.
- Experience in providing fund control for local Requests for Purchase ensuring purchases are valid and items purchased conforms to specifications.
- Experience interpreting financial reports and implementing accounting standards for Federal agencies.
- Experience in utilizing costing ratios and analysis to ensure accuracy of manufacturing and job order costing, cost allocation and performance measurements.
- Experience which demonstrates the responsibility in assisting with the budget development for submission to management detailing projected operating levels for sales, earnings, overhead, inventory levels and capital expenditures for the factory.
- Experience in analyzing the results of operations for evaluating production performance to assist in the formulation of pricing structures.
