We offer a(n): \n\n New Hire Program // We understand changing jobs can be intimidating, CobbFendley has established a program geared specifically to the successful onboarding and integration of new hires into the firm\n Development Opportunities // Professional and personal growth through innovative in-house training and collaborative resources \n Compensation + Benefits // Competitive compensation package with comprehensive benefits including 401(k) Matching and Profit-sharing Contributions; Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP); Health, Vision, and Dental Insurance; Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Insurance; Employer Funded and Voluntary Life Insurance; Tuition Reimbursement; and Continuing Education Programs \n Paid Parental Leave // FMLA-eligible employees will receive fully paid leave in the amounts of eight (8) weeks for maternity cases and two (2) weeks for paternity or adoptions cases\n Winter Holiday // Extended office closure from December 25 through January 1 to relax and enjoy the holidays \n Community Engagement // CobbFendley Cares focuses on STEM Education, Hunger Relief, and Sustainable Solutions\n\nCobbFendley is seeking an experienced SUE Field Technician in our Austin office.Requirements:\nEXPERIENCE + KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITY (KSA) \nIntermediate // Developing skills with some practical experience; able to perform tasks with or without assistance. 3+ years of Field experience.\n\n Knowledge of field operations, methods, procedures, safety requirements, and environmental considerations associated with civil infrastructure work in outdoor settings.\n Skills include use of industry-standard tools, equipment, and computer software to perform field tasks, document work, and communicate effectively.\n Ability to safely operate required equipment, travel locally, regionally, and interstate, with occasional overnight stays, and perform work in varying weather, terrain, and environmental conditions.\n\nRESPONSIBILITIES //\nUltimately, the Field Technician is responsible for the success of field operations to support project completion.\n1.General //\n\n Perform routine assignments with limited supervision.\n Expand technical knowledge and field capabilities.\n Coordinate with project staff as directed.\n Responsible for safely operating equipment.\n Travel locally and out of state, including overnights.\n May operate a variety of vehicles, including large vehicles with or without attached trailers, as needed to support specific operational tasks, and perform routine maintenance to ensure safe and efficient use.\n May cross train to perform other field services (Telecommunications, Survey, SUE).\n\n2.Safety + Compliance // \n\n Comply with all safety procedures: Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Emergency Action Plans (EAP), and Project Safety Plans (PSP) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures.\n Observe and follow QA/QC processes under supervision.\n Identifying and evaluating potential hazards in the work environment.\n Properly selecting and using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).\n Understanding of Traffic Control Plans (TCP).\n Be familiar with Federal, State, and local codes, regulations, and standards governing projects in their respective field. \n\n3.Technical //\n\n Perform entry-level tasks in Air and Hydro Vacuum Excavation (SUE Locating), assisting with safe and efficient exposure of underground utilities.\n Apply basic utility locating methods to identify buried infrastructure such as telephone lines, fiber optic cables, coaxial cables, electric power, gas, water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems.\n Read and interpret DOT, municipal, and other technical plans/prints to determine the type and size of underground utilities.\n Operate or assist with vacuum truck equipment during excavation and utility locating activities.\n Locate, designate, and mark underground utilities via all quality levels within prescribed quality/accuracy limits.\n Perform Level A (QL-A) SUE locating via nondestructive techniques (i.e., digging potholes and soil excavation, etc.) with a high-pressure air/hydro wand, concrete saws, core drills, and vacuum hose systems to determine precise horizontal, vertical position, size, and type of underground utilities. \n Perform Level B (QL-B) SUE designating via electromagnetic equipment (pipe/cable locators) to determine existence and horizontal position of underground utilities. Perform Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) scanning when included as part of the scope. Document estimated electronic depth (ED) readings.\n Document site conditions and SUE information via photographs and/or video. Perform video inspections of sewers when necessary.\n May perform Level C (QL-C) SUE, including documenting existing visible utility features such as manholes, valve boxes, hydrants, meters, pedestals, handholes, and related utility appurtenances.\n May perform Level D (QL-D) SUE, including reviewing available utility records and coordinating with utility representatives to obtain existing utility information.\n Record accurate documentation/sketches of underground utility field data using CobbFendley’s ArcGIS Online SUE Collector/GIS mapping software.\n Serve as a Project Lead on small SUE projects. \n Troubleshoot some utility issues with regard to geophysical equipment. \n Perform utility feature inventories and collect utility attribute information including ownership, material type, size, direction, and estimated depth information.\n Conduct passive and inductive sweeps to identify unknown or unmarked utilities within project limits.\n Prepare and maintain field sketches, photographs, and supporting documentation for utility investigations and project deliverables.\n Coordinate with survey personnel to ensure utility markings and field data are properly documented. \n\nCOBBFENDLEY CHARACTERISTICS\n\n We Collaborate // with a professional attitude making communication a priority.\n We Commit // to maintaining a safe and inclusive work environment, with a focus on accountability. \n We Build Communities // by fulfilling our responsibilities with integrity that is consistent with industry standards.\n\nPHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS + ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS\nTasks are divided between indoor and outdoor settings, with approximately 80% of duties performed in outdoor environments and 20% in indoor office or warehouse spaces.\n\n Cognitive Requirements. Selective attention, oral comprehension, oral expression, speech recognition, speech clarity, written comprehension, written expression, problem sensitivity, deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning, number facility, information ordering, category flexibility, flexibility of closure, fluency of ideas, and originality. Must remain alert and responsive while working in lane closure zones adjacent to high-traffic and dynamic areas.\n Physical Abilities. Includes hand-eye coordination, steadiness, upper and lower body strength, control precision, stamina, multi-limb coordination, static strength, manual dexterity, and depth perception. Extended periods of sitting and standing in an upright position at a workstation or job site. Movement within the office and job sites, including navigating between floors, workstations, high-traffic areas, and various walking surfaces. Forward flexion, extension, or lateral rotation of the head and neck while using multiple computer screens. Repetitive finger movements for operating a computer mouse and typing on a keyboard. Includes activities such as reaching, bending, stooping, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, and handling. Extending hands and arms in various directions, such as overhead, below the waist, forward, or laterally. Raising or lowering objects from one level to another and transporting objects by holding them in the hands, arms, or over the shoulder. Capable of lifting, carrying, and balancing equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds in various environments, including remote, rural, or urban settings. Ability to walk long distances (3+ miles) and climb on uneven surfaces.\n Office Conditions. Includes extensive use of electronic devices such as computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones. Additionally, tasks may involve the use of cutting tools and equipment like rotary paper cutters and plotting devices.\n Outdoor Conditions. Includes walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, confined spaces, and exposure to extreme weather conditions (heat and freezing temperatures). Potential exposure to high noise levels and various allergens, including poison ivy, sumac, dust, pollen, and cedar. Potential exposure to wildlife hazards such as animals, insects, and plants. Ability to move effectively in and around construction sites, traffic work zones, and other outdoor assignments.\n Safety and Equipment Use. Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, along with use of pneumatic, hand and power tools.\n Driving and Vehicle Use. May involve driving large pick-up trucks with attached trailers, potentially operating watercraft, and for extended periods of time.\n\nEXPECTED WORK HOURS\n\n This is a full-time position, generally 40 hours per week, however, hours may fluctuate depending on department needs including the use of overtime. \n CobbFendley’s standard operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST. Generally, employees receive a 1-hour unpaid lunch break free of duty.
