Pay Range


Pay Range: $25.59 to $31.35 an hour as per TEA CBA Appendix A FY 2026.


Position Overview

As a Bus Driver, you will deliver safe and efficient transportation for students and other passengers on assigned routes in accordance with RSU 21 operating procedures. This role requires a strong commitment to student safety, professionalism, and reliable service.

Reports To: Transportation Manager
Qualifications

• Must meet physical and mental requirements established by the State of Maine and U.S. Department of Transportation
• Must maintain a clean driving record
• Must comply with all federal and state transportation laws and regulations
• Must comply with controlled substance and alcohol regulations for school bus drivers
• Valid Criminal History Records Certification required
• Ability to successfully complete required training and certification requirements

Responsibilities
Accountability

• Report daily and arrive on time for assigned routes
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report issues immediately
• Operate bus routes safely and responsibly
• Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicle
• Demonstrate professional behavior at all times
• Attend required training sessions
• Follow written and verbal instructions independently

Student Safety Centered

• Maintain positive and professional interactions with students, families, and staff
• Enforce safe and appropriate student behavior on the bus
• Identify and report unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately
• Report accidents promptly and assist until emergency services arrive
• Complete required accident and incident reports
• Participate in required bus evacuation drills

Terms of Employment

School year position. Salary and benefits are determined in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and Board policies.
Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy governing evaluation of support services personnel.
