The focus is on delivering high-quality care to individuals with cardiac-related issues and other complex medical conditions.Unit InformationUnit Type: StepdownNumber of Beds: 32Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4-5, occasionally 5-6 on nights, with PCU level care overflow at 1:3Common DiagnosesCardiac catheterizationsElectrophysiology studiesPacing interventionsAlcohol withdrawal (ETOH)COVID-19 related cases requiring BiPAPGeneral surgical cases with cardiac historiesMedical patients with chronic conditions such as pneumonia, influenza, and sepsisQualificationsExperience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar role with PCU experienceCertifications Required: ACLS, BLSSkills: Ability to read cardiac strips and manage titratable drips (e.g., Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix)Technical Skills: Experience with Epic electronic health record system preferredShift DetailsShift Length: 12 hoursGuaranteed Hours: 36 hours per weekWeekend Requirements: Every other weekendHoliday Requirements: Every other holidayFloating Requirements: May be required to float across different areas, including helping hands in PCU and MS units, as well as potential ER holds or boardingAdditional InformationSupport Staff: Nurse aides/patient care technicians are available with a ratio of 1:10Orientation: 2 shifts of department-specific orientation (12-hour shifts)Dress Code: Any color scrubs are acceptable; scrubs not providedThis role provides a dynamic and collaborative environment for nursing professionals who thrive on contributing to patient care and improving health outcomes in a fast-paced setting.
