It is part of Saks Global's portfolio of world-class luxury retailers and real estate assets.The Restaurant Cook assists main restaurant Associates in maintaining high quality food items while keeping in mind the cost and profitability of inventory. The Cook does so by controlling daily and weekly inventories and conducts tasks to see to it that guests will have the level of food and beverage service.Maintain an active role in the smoothness and efficiency of retail restaurant operations by producing and coordinating the production of food items needed for daily menus and special eventsControl daily and weekly inventoriesMaintain team awareness of inventory cost and profitability through proper use of production, build-to, and order sheetsChecks in with supervisor for any special preparation needed before starting normal kitchen taskPerform job responsibilities normally associated with those of a cook, including:Coordinate production of daily menu items using menu count and production (or build-to sheets) to help control wasteCheck inventory of all menusCommunicate supply needs for production with head cookMaintain a clean and organized work area keeping in mind all health and sanitation standards to assure integrity of food productsMaintain equipment daily and report any malfunctions to designated AssociateMaintain flow of food orders by communicating with Associates promptlyVerify all special orders with designated AssociateMaintain production of menu items throughout the day, keeping up with supply demands and making serious efforts to avoid wasted itemsCloses and sanitizes work area promptly according to health codes and gathers items required for next day's productionCommunicate any supplies that need to be ordered to supervisorChecks in with a supervisor before leavingUphold all Health and Sanitation standards as directed by Neiman Marcus, local Health Department, and 3rd party Sanitation auditorsHigh school diploma or GEDAt least 3 years of relevant experience"Win together" mentalityRole requires standing, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting and carrying 35 poundsAssociates must be available based on our needs, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidaysOpportunity to work in a dynamic fast paced environment at a company experiencing growth and transformationExposure to rewarding career advancement opportunities across the largest multi-brand luxury retailer from retail to distribution, to digital or corporateComprehensive benefits package for all eligible full-time employees (including medical, vision and dental)An amazing employee discountSaks.com is an equal opportunity employer.
