Senior Software Engineer

Job Description An employer in the Dayton, OH area is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for a direct hire opportunity. This individual will serve as a technical leader responsible for maintaining and enhancing a command-and-control software environment supporting Army and intelligence community missions. The ideal candidate will bring strong software architecture and framework design experience, with deep expertise in modern C++ development. They will work closely with an established development team that is actively building on the environment but lacks senior-level architectural guidance. This person will help drive design decisions, establish development standards, and guide the long-term technical direction of the platform. The role includes hands‑on coding, architectural oversight, mentoring junior developers, and eventually leading a small team. Candidates should be comfortable working through complex software engineering challenges, understanding how large‑scale frameworks and engines operate, and contributing to a highly specialized mission environment. Strong leadership, communication, and technical problem‑solving skills are critical for success.
