Plant Manager

Position Overview The Plant Foreperson is responsible for safely controlling production and load out of materials produced in the batch plant, scheduling and ensuring timely delivery of supplies to the plant, and performing duties in conjunction with dispatch loading operations. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Enforce company safety rules and conduct safety meetings, including toolbox talks; ensure facilities operate safely. Accurately batch concrete loads according to specifications, reading dispatch orders and understanding production needs. Conduct batching operations efficiently and safely in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA, MSHA, DEP, etc.). Print invoice tickets for each truck/load and provide copies to drivers for customer payment collection. Maintain plant equipment and trucks, performing greasing, sweeping, shoveling, repairs, and cleaning. Become proficient in all batching, dispatching, and quality control software. Manage plant inventory with daily, weekly, and monthly reporting. Understand appropriate uses of various mix designs. Complete daily clerical functions (paperwork to division office, bank deposits, etc.). Assist dispatch in scheduling drivers, familiarize with delivery areas, and help drivers find job sites. Identify and resolve regulatory, safety, personnel, and production problems promptly. Other duties as assigned. Other Requirements Display a professional and courteous attitude toward co‑workers, supervisors, and the general public. Willingness to travel and work away from home when required. Willingness to work nights and weekends as necessary. Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures. Strict adherence to company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co‑workers or supervisors with other duties as required. Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all employees. Supervisory Responsibilities Develop subordinates' technical and leadership skills, and make recommendations for new job opportunities when appropriate. Effectively manage employee performance through coaching, feedback (written and verbal), rewards, and discipline when necessary. Delegate tasks, schedule, and manage time to get work done through others. Qualifications High School degree required. One to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Management experience preferred. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred. Ability and willingness to pass ACI Level One certification preferred. Knowledge/Skills Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively to customers or employees. Perform basic arithmetic with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Handle problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations. Interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Proficient with Windows, Excel, and Word. Innovation – generates suggestions for improvement. Quality – demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; seeks ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback. Physical Requirements Required to stand, walk, use hands to handle objects, reach, and talk/hear regularly. Frequently required to climb or balance. Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Vision requirements include distance, peripheral, and depth perception. Work Environment Work occurs near moving mechanical parts, in outside weather conditions, and may expose employee to wet, humid airborne particles, extreme heat or cold, and vibration. Noise level is usually loud and may require personal protective equipment.
