Aircraft Sheet Metal Structures Mechanic

About the Role
Picture your day starting at 6:30AM PST on a bustling hangar floor. You review blueprints, mark precise layouts, and prep aircraft sheet metal for new builds and repairs. Your hands move confidently from air-operated drill motors to rivet guns and bucking bars, and your measurements are verified with precision tools and gages. By 3PM, you’ve documented your work, verified quality, and left each assembly stronger than you found it.
What You’ll Do- Lay out, drill, and trim aircraft sheet metal components for both new and repaired aircraft.
- Locate, fit, and rivet component parts into assemblies across a range of sizes and complexities.
- Accurately record all work performed on the appropriate records.
- Maintain thorough familiarity with all tools, equipment, inspection aids, and work aids within your area.
- Execute assigned tasks properly and to standard.
- 5 years of hands-on sheet metal experience in an aircraft environment.
- Blueprint reading/interpretation skills.
- Proficiency with hand tools and shop equipment.
- Knowledge of aircraft hardware, materials, and processes.
- Ability to identify, install, and remove common aircraft fasteners.
- Skilled with precision measuring tools and gages.
- Capable of using: air-operated drill motors; rivet gun and rivet sets; bucking bars; cleco pliers; countersink stops; standard hand tools; hand and foot pneumatic air squeeze; pneumatic cutter disc; electric and manual rollers.
