Data AnalystLocation: Remote Contract: Through end of 2026, with potential extension Target Start Date: September 8thAbout the OpportunityWe are seeking a Data Systems Analyst to support a high-priority data quality initiative within a complex enterprise environment.This role is ideal for someone who enjoys getting into the details of how data, systems, and business processes interact. You will work across business and technical teams to investigate data inconsistencies, understand existing processes and system behavior, identify root causes, and help drive issues toward resolution.This is not a traditional dashboarding or reporting-focused Data Analyst position. We are looking for someone who is naturally investigative, technically comfortable, and able to work directly with business users to understand how data is being created, changed, and used across different systems.What You'll DoInvestigate data quality and consistency issues across multiple systems and business processes.Use SQL to query, analyze, reconcile, and validate data.Reverse engineer existing business processes, data flows, and system behavior.Work directly with business users to understand workflows, requirements, and potential sources of data issues.Analyze data models, relationships, mappings, and dependencies across systems.Perform root-cause analysis to determine where and why data discrepancies are occurring.Navigate technical environments and review existing application logic when needed to better understand system behavior.Clearly document findings, business processes, data issues, and requirements.Translate findings between business stakeholders and technical teams.Partner with developers and engineers who will implement technical solutions and system changes.Assist with validating data and processes as issues are resolved.What We're Looking ForStrong hands-on SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.Experience investigating data quality, data integrity, reconciliation, or cross-system data issues.Understanding of data models, data relationships, and data flows.Strong analytical and root-cause problem-solving skills.Ability to work through complex or not fully documented business processes and technical environments.Comfort navigating technical systems and reading/following existing code or application logic; this is not a software development role.Experience gathering requirements and working directly with business users and technical teams.Strong communication and documentation skills.Ability to take an ambiguous problem, ask the right questions, and methodically work toward the root cause.Technical EnvironmentExperience with Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Databricks is beneficial.Exposure to programming or application technologies such as C#, JavaScript, Python, or similar languages is also helpful. Candidates are not expected to be software developers, but should be technically comfortable enough to understand how application logic can impact underlying data.
