Job Title CE Childcare Associate I - PreK & Mascot Location Sonoran Sky ES Contract 9 months, 6 hours/day Salary $16.48 per hour (Grade 15) Position Hours 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (A.M. shift) Position Type Non-Interim Purpose Statement The job of CE Childcare Associate I is to provide support to the instructional program within the assigned classroom with specific responsibility for implementing programs for the personal and emotional growth of referred students; assisting in the monitoring of behaviors; and communicating observations to teachers, parents and administrators. Reports To CE Childcare Associate V Essential Functions Administers first aid for the purpose of providing immediate care for ill, medically fragile and/or injured children. Assists students as needed with personal care (e.g., diapering, toilet training, feeding). Assists the site manager with age‑appropriate activities by working with individual or small groups of children (games, art, music, science, language, nutrition, playground, washing hands). Communicates with internal stakeholders to convey and receive information required to perform job functions. Completes a minimum of 18 verifiable hours of approved training annually to meet mandated requirements per Department of Health Services regulations. Distributes instructional and/or play materials for the purpose of providing required supplies. Establishes positive individual relationships to build student confidence and self‑esteem. Implements instructional programs and lesson plans under the supervision of the assigned site manager to present and reinforce learning concepts. Maintains classroom equipment, work area, and manual and electronic files and records to ensure availability of items and a safe, comfortable, supportive learning environment. Maintains acceptable behavior standards in accordance with district and program policy. Monitors individual and/or groups of students in various settings (snack time, group or individual games, playground activities, quiet time, field trips, classroom, homework time) to provide a safe and positive learning environment. Organizes quiet or active, age‑appropriate indoor and/or outdoor activities to actively participate in learning activities with children. Prepares nutritional snacks, lunches, bottles, etc. to comply with established guidelines. Provides ongoing feedback to inform supervisor, teacher, and parents of students' progress. Transfers children directly from/to parents or designees to ensure safety and meet district requirements. Other Functions Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Job Requirements (Minimum Qualifications) Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Skill in preparing and maintaining accurate records. Knowledge of basic math, reading and following instructions, and understanding multi‑step written and oral instructions. Knowledge of stages of child development, methods of motivating and controlling children, and awareness of codes, regulations and laws related to counseling students. Ability to schedule activities; gather and collate data; use basic job‑related equipment; work with diversity of individuals; communicate with persons of varied backgrounds; maintain confidentiality; adapt to changing priorities; and work as part of a team. Responsibilities Work under immediate supervision; lead, guide, and/or coordinate others; utilize resources from other work units as required; and continually impact organization’s services. Work Environment Physical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and fine finger dexterity. The job requires 0% sitting, 0% walking, and 0% standing. Work conditions involve some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness and a clean atmosphere. Experience Desired job‑related experience.
