Validation Specialist (Radiation Therapy) ** Onsite - Palo Alto**

Overview Varian Medical Systems, a Siemens Healthineers company, is hiring an on‑site Validation Specialist in Palo Alto, California. The role focuses on ensuring that medical devices being developed are of high quality, safe, and meet design and intended use requirements in the field of radiation oncology. Location On‑site in Palo Alto, California. Remote or hybrid arrangements are considered only for candidates located in the Palo Alto region or willing to relocate. What you will do Ensure completion of validation so that Varian’s products are safe, effective, and meet the intended use, supported by objective test evidence before release. Evaluate and discuss clinical practices, treatment techniques, and process optimizations with Product Management, User Experience, Design Engineering, and other teams to define new product requirements. Provide continuous feedback and implement improvements in the design, development, and modification of radiation and oncology products and systems. Support development and maintenance of Varian products, including Oncology Information Systems, Treatment Planning Management Systems, and Treatment Delivery and Imaging Systems. Define strategy for thorough design validation of new products to demonstrate compliance with design and intended use requirements. Develop, modify, and execute design validation plans to meet product and system needs. Participate in requirements analysis, use‑case development, and risk/hazard analysis. Analyze and write test designs and procedures, establishing traceability to requirements and risk mitigations. Consult with Product Verification Engineers, Product Marketing, User Experience, and Project Management to resolve usability, requirements, software, and scope issues. Work within a global development team and travel globally (5–25%) to support validation efforts. What you will have Education and experience include one of the following: Current clinical certification/registration as a Radiation Therapist and five (5) years of Radiation Oncology clinical experience. Bachelor of Arts, Science, or equivalent, plus five (5) years of Radiation Oncology clinical experience as a Radiation Therapist and/or Clinical Applications Specialist using Varian products. Thorough understanding of simulation, imaging, and treatment delivery clinical workflow scenarios in a radiation therapy center, including: Treatment delivery using IMRT, VMAT, and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for brain and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for lung. Knowledge of radiation safety practices and safe handling of ionizing radiation equipment. What will set you apart Current clinical certification/registration as a Radiation Therapist and clinical experience as a Medical Dosimetrist. Proficient use of Varian products such as ARIA Radiation Therapy Management software, linear accelerators (C-Series, TrueBeam, Halcyon), and motion‑management technologies (RPM, RGSC, optical surface tracking like IDENTIFY). Basic knowledge of ARIA Oncology Information System and Eclipse Treatment Planning System. Compensation and Benefits Base pay range: $115,980 – $159,478 (geography and experience may affect starting pay). The position is commission eligible per company plan.
